Whatever happened to animal migrations?

Animal migrations definitely are still around. I'm on a Mountain Tundra map, and I think I've had 1-3 per year, including one pants-soiling moment when I got the notification "Animal Migration: Megaspider."

...And yes, I absolutely tried to tame one of them for the lulz. It didn't work (sadface).

A group of megaspiders?? Wtf I wasn't expecting that.

But yeah it seems the migrations are much, much smaller. I want to see them at least a little bigger, and more common in all biomes (maybe being the most common in the tundra).
