I don't see any reason for there not to be an online world map, where ppl can settle a section of map, say
a minimum of 20 tiles away from another faction, set it up so that only a total wealth is displayed, rather than having to compute each persons settlement.
After the initial settlement perhaps allow more free range settlements, though one issue could possibly be a settlement with 10,000 boars crashing your pc lol

I know this is probably a far cry from the developers thoughts on where his game should go.

nor would i actually play it my self lol, never been a fan of MORPG, but i see it as a viable option, with some good replayability.

EDIT: my bad, i ment morpg, not mmo in the title
