This mod conflicts a little with another mod that I can't find nor remember the name that is already released, and does the exact same thing, with different values. If anyone can post it here, I'll develop a little further on this.

It aims to simply make the weapon or apparel's degradation matter. No longer you will destroy your items to ~10% of its HP to reduce your colony's wealth. Battered guns are less accurate, ragged parkas protect less against the cold and broken knives deal less damage and penetrate less the enemy's armor.

Weapons with 100% condition have a very small boost to their performance, dealing a little more damage, penetrating slightly better the enemy's armor and/or attacking a little faster. This bonus is lost if their condition drops to about 90%, at which in this point it will slowly degrade. Melee weapons behave differently from this: blunt weapons are less affected by degradation than sharp ones, meaning a nearly-broken mace will still deal about two-thirds of the damage of an intact one. A knife, however, will be too blunt to be effective.

Finally, quality levels have been somewhat tweaked. Legendary items do not leap as much in some regards, but are definately better than Masterwork ones. Armor penetration values are also slightly affected by quality, and not only when the item goes from Masterwork to Legendary.

I don't want to spoil too much of the fun here. I strongly advise those who want a closer experience to A16 regarding this individual interaction to try it out and see for themselves. Hopefully it brings some good memories and return the old ways of actually trying to maintain and look for items which are not damaged.

maybe u refer on this mod:

[1.0] Static Quality Plus 1.0

https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=24718.0

as it
"modify whether or not you can lose skill levels due to degradation"..

Non-steam DL link? I've been wanting something like this since I learned that condition no longer has a real effect

I was not referring to this mod, but if it does that, then its another mod that has this exact same objective. This mod changes item degradation and relates to their HP (damaged items performing worse than full HP ones), not skills.

Should be up soon.

Great mod, that balance change in later versions is really bad.
But it can be VERY good idea balance-wise to make all items be dependent on health (foods nutrition, building efficiency). May be you can work on that? I can help you with numbers, I discussed that topic a lot here - https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=45664
Or at least may be you can make all other items wealth not dependent on hp (like their utility not depends on it)?

If you have idea how make merciless naked brutality run more challenging and fun - tell me

Don't think that is possible without tweaking something code-wise. This is just a .xml solution for equipment, which plays a huge part in the mechanic, at least.

BLACK_FR

Is it possible to tweak wealth values via xml solution?

Also am I right in understanding that this mod makes raids less powerful (because raiders almost always use battered weapons and apparel)?

I think it is possible to make the Market Value of items affected by the .xml, and in turn, reduce the MV according to the item's HP. But doing so would provide the opposite intended effect, since you cannot edit several attributes, such as for instance, if a damaged bed has less confort, or a damaged statue less beauty.

Yes, this should make raids slightly less powerful overall, but it is countered by the fact that looting their items and using that 39% Assault Rifle will not be as useful as before, for example.

BLACK_FR

My idea is to make Marke Value of all items except weapons and apparel NOT be dependent on hp using xml tweaks. That way both their utility AND their MV will be fixed. That prevents tactic where you degrade your stuff in order to reduce wealth. It's crude fix but it is much better than what we have now.

Thank you

I was playing with this mod for a while and it causes some problems with npc pawns. For example caravans leave immediately when temperature is low because their apparel is not new.
Is it possible to somehow make this mod work only for colony pawns?
