As a new player to the game there is only one frustrating thing..

Playing the 1.0 unstable build as a new player.

I've reached the point where I have marine armor and helmets on my people and a very nice settlement and I've found most of the game incredibly enjoyable but one thing stuck out as annoying and tedious to manage.

The home area should be split into two areas, one for fire management and rebuilding and one for cleaning. Simple as that.

Heres why I feel this would be the biggest contribution to my gameplay experience,

My base has a never ending hauling requirement and is pretty expansive. If I leave the default priority where hauling is done before cleaning nothing is ever cleaned and my hospital and kitchen get incredibly dirty.

My solution has been to set cleaning as a priority above hauling and this works pretty well except..

Cleaning is done in places I don't care about like my stockpile and outdoors and such because these are all labeled as home areas due to my wanting to protect against fires and to rebuild destroyed structures automatically. This obviously wastes my settler's time.

To alleviate this, I've removed my home area in all but the most critical places and instead micromanage the home area every time there is a fire and then remove the area after the fire is dealt with.

This has become very tedious and I realized a simple solution would be if a cleaning area could be designated on its own. This way I can set cleaning as a priority and my pawns will prioritize cleaning the kitchen and hospital areas and then proceeding to continue hauling afterwards.

+1 for separating cleaning from the Home Area, and moving it to it's own manageable Area.

+1, this is something that definitely belongs in vanilla.
In the meantime, check the "CleaningArea" mod, it does exactly that.
