So since I'm coming back into rimworld, what would make a good Vanilla + Experience?

So far:
Hugslib
JecsTools
Some kind of Mod manager - Please recommend one
Allow Tool
Colony Manager (I'm not 100% on this one since it has a tendency to override important tasks)

That's my "Basic" set up that I always start with, any mods I REALLY should have that makes the game more "complete" things that really should have been in the game but isn't.

I like adding birds and bees + children to make my colony feel more like it's growing organically, I also like the idea of the animals screw mod that has prey animals repopulate. But these are not necessarily things that "Should" have been in the base game ya?

The biggest problem I find with mods that add things is that they don't compensate for work load, if a mod adds something that makes a pawn have to do more work to accomplish something and doesn't balance for that, that's when we get problems. I'm looking at you weaving mods, you're all awesome and make total sense but there are only so many hours in a day!

I appreciate all recommendations!

Yeah I'm not sure about colony manager myself, fluffy mods are great though. A good MOD manager is core.

Vouru

By core, do you mean the core file or a mod called core? As for fluffy's mods I know them and I've used them before but which ones would be "completing" rimworld and which is just extra... fluff?

Do you play on Steam or Ludeon? Because if your playing on Non-Steam Version or Converted Steam version to Non-Steam... I like the build in mod manager the most. The mod mods you add the game the more unstable it can potentially get. If I was playing on Steam some mod managers have like switch features and stuff. Things I don't find I need when I play Non-Steam. So I can't suggest a mod manager. It's fairly easy to add, remove and adjust mods in Vanilla Rimword.

This is a very open question I feel, but what I personally look for in mods is ones that add a bit of personality/individuality or in some cases additional control. Here's a few I liked:

There are a couple of Hair mods too that I haven't decided upon yet, as well as the Facial Stuff mod which adds more detail to the pawns (for good and for bad I guess).
