Do animals prioritize eating better meals?

I feel like they do as my dogs always seem to my fine meals more than my simple ones. Shouldn't animals just randomly pick or choose the closest meal?
The number of possible signatures there are might as well be, for practical use, infinite, yet I chose this one.

I think it's just human memory that prioritizes events with high emotional intensity.
