Boomrats keep blowing themselves up in my traps.

If you just pad your mouse traps, there will be no spark, and boom rats won't boom.

I think the diagonal path is just as bad.. Need a real 1 tile gap. They always go around when possible for me.

Yes, you're right. The diagonal path also does not always work. Though some places it does. Im a bit unsure why exactly. For example on this image where Mace should have gone diagonally, but he didn't.

EDIT: Ok yes I know why, he cannot pass diagonally next to a wall. But I found out that he can pass diagonally next to sandbags. It does make sense. f course sandbags would give enemies good cover, but not before they walked right into the trap. In this case on the screenshot I think I should remove the sandbag though.
