So right now I'm training animal and shooting skills on some of my colonists by taming small animals and then using them as target practice.  right now I have a tamed iguana that's taken a shot without dying.  I treated him with some herbal meds because it lets me train my doctors a little bit and it also makes the iguana lie down, which makes him harder to hit, which makes him better for training shooting.  Now that he's laying down he can't feed himself so my colonists are trying to feed him.  Problem is, they are trying to feed fine meals to the stupid thing, even though I have lots of simple meals on hand in the same freezer.  Is there any way to stop them from feeding my more valuable meals to animals?

After a little trial and error, the food they bring seems to be completely random.  Therefore I can control what food they bring, but only through an annoying amount of micromanaging.  I'd still like to know if there's a setting I'm missing for animal food restrictions.
