Quarry 1.0


Description:
Adds a quarry for collecting rocks and resources in flat terrain.

Mineable Items
Chunks (only the types available under where the quarry was built)
Most vanilla and modded mineable items, by default
Any custom defined items in Options->Mod Settings->Quarry

Objects Added
Quarry: A large pit dug into the ground for digging.
Mini Quarry: A small pit dug into the ground for digging. Has less health than the regular quarry.
Quarry platform: A platform quarry workers will haul resources to. Must be placed near a quarry, preferably near the ladders. Quarries can be linked to only one or two platforms.

Other Features
Quarries can be built anywhere the terrain permits by enabling God Mode. These quarries will give chunks and blocks based on stone types available in the map.

Custom Worktype
Quarry is now a work type. Pawns can be set to work in the quarry or set to mine normally. Doing either job will increase mining skill, but allows further control over when miners work in the quarry.

How to install:
- Unzip the contents and place them in your RimWorld/Mods folder.
- Activate the mod in the mod menu in the game.

This mod can be added to existing saves.
Always back up your saves before adding new mods as there is always the possibility for issues.

Used to love this mod, but then... DeepRim and they are not compatible, and Minning Co is also cool, so one has to choose, quarry or digging to the center of the Rimworld

I use Quarry, DeepRim and Minning Co (DrillTurret, MMS and projector) and there's no incompatibilities between them, I have a 2nd map from DeepRim with its entrance near my quarry which shows modded items (no Minning Co items in my map yet). The only issue I have for now, is that DeepRim building shows debug icons instead of its own (surely due to some incorrect placement in the mod list). Here's my mod order if anyone is wondering (hope it helps)

I've noticed a mild incompatibility with Rainbau's fertile fields. The leftover quarry dirt after removing a quarry can't be altered into other terrain types with the RFF terraforming options.

Strange,
RF made a patch for this.
I am assuming you researched terraforming, then it should work like this :

a.) research terraform ==== EDIT ==== Terraforming Research is not necessary ====
1.) Build Quarry
2.) Deconstruct Quarry
3.) A message appears -  " Once the Quarry has been deconstructed, you can designate colonists to cover the old ground with soil in order to get a usable terrain where the quarry once was. Use the Reclaim Soil command to designate an area for reclaiming
4.) To confuse the player a bit, the reclaim soil designator is a tool under the "floors" menu of the architect tab. Looks like a hoe over dirt.
5.) Designate the area of the quarry to be soiled. ( works similiar to smoothing )
Maxim 1   : Pillage, then burn
Maxim 37 : There is no overkill. There is only open fire and reload.
Rule 34 of Rimworld :There is a mod for that.

I was just testing in godmode, I haven't committed to using this in a full save yet, but doing the "smoothfloor/reclaimsoil" turns it into a terrain type called "reclaimed soil" which has identical stats to rocky soil. I'll go explore RF's page to see if I can find this patch though.

EDIT: Never mind it seems to be working now, after I changed nothing. I've been having a number of issues with the newer mods I've been adding and without touching what order they're loaded in bugs will start and stop each time i load the game, its quite frustrating.

can the quarry be used in medieval playthroughs? I tried it last week or so but the only buildable object was the quarry platform and not the actual quarry

There isn't any research needed to build a quarry, just a terrain restriction.
The quarry plattform is under Misc, while the quarry itself under Production.
