I can't open RimWorld versions above 0.17 with "start_RimWorld_openglfix.sh".

Val,
you should be more detailed with your error report.
And maybe you made a new topic.
What Operation system.
Steam/non-steam
What you are doing
Logfile from Rimworld. To locate the logfile look at

You can attach files to your posting, so don't try to insert the log as text.

OS : Lubuntu 18.04 x86

I'm trying to play the game through the steam version, but for a reason that i don't know why i can't open the game through "start_RimWorld_openglfix.sh" in versions above 0.17. When i try to run "start_RimWorld_openglfix.sh" with "./start_RimWorld_openglfix.sh" this is what appears
"Detected OpenGL versoin < 3.2, launching game with a fix"
"Sorry, game still crashed with the -force-opengl fix".

ALphaB0t

I recently had to switch OS to Ubuntu 18.04 and I can't seem to launch RimWorld, I am very new to Ubuntu and don't know any terminal commands, whenever I try to launch RimWorld the game just flashes then disappears. FYI I have tried the terminal commands that come in the notes and it says that the command is not found. any ideas

Canute

Posting the logfile would be helpful.
Rimworld allways create on start a logfile, so there is maybe a hint.

I am not a linux user, but did you update the video driver ? Do other 3d games works well ?

ALphaB0t

I think these are the log files that you are looking for, if not let me.
I haven't tried other 3d unity games, should I?

EDIT:
MSI Afterburner was the cause of my crashes. I changed the application detection level to none and now the game start and runs fine.

The game crashes a few seconds after startup. I've tried all the fixes suggested.

YES! Thank you! I was trying all weekend to get the game running. Tried everything and was almost sure i could never play the game again.
Closed MSI Afterburner and now it works! Would've never thought of that. Thanks!  :)

Good day! I just bought the game but it keeps on crashing whenever I launch it from Steam, can't even last a minute from the starting menu but the game seems fine whenever I launch it straight from the game folder. I have no mods installed, tried validating my files and reinstalling the game. Anyone knows what's going on here? Thanks!

Here's a video recording of what's happening, the first time I launched the game was from the game folder and it seems fine, the following two launches are from Steam when the crashes happen, it doesn't give me any error logs too.

----- Found the answer, seems to be RTSS. Made a profile of RimWorldWin64.exe on Riva Turner and disabled RTSS functions on it. Haven't experienced any start up crashes so far, cheers!

Thanks ragington!
This thread should be pinned or something. I wanted to play again since a long time and crashed all the time.
RTSS was the reason - just put the RimWorldWin64.exe as a profile in there and deactivate the detection level - solved!

Recent RivaTurner update (7.2.3) seems to have fixed this, I can now play the game even with it on. Just a heads up.

Hello!

I've been playing fine until yesterday, when I updated my GPU driver. Now, every time when I try to start the game (no matter if from Steam or directly) I get the error message, and the game is not starting at all.

The most recent crash report is attached.

Some info about my PC, I don't know if you need that at all, and which info you need, so I just put some of it here:
CLEVO P170EM
Windows 7 Ultimate (64-Bit)
Intel® Core™ i7-3610QM CPU @ 2.30GHz
Intel® 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family

AMD Radeon HD 7970M
Intel® HD Graphics 4000

Any help is very apprechiated!

Thal

Sorry, right after I posted this I found that sticky topic "Black Screen? ..."

So, I already did do step 1 before, so I guess I really need to try step 2 now?

Hi,
QuoteRenderer: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
you should try that Rimworld use the other videocard.
special since
Quote0x000007FECC65D715 (atiumd64) OpenAdapter
0x000007FECE71FD0C (atiu9p64) XopOpenAdapters9
all the driver are for ATI allready.

Alternativ, deactivate the intel one at the Bios, if you don't need it.
