Rimworld resolution problems

I'm using a 4k TV so I have it set to 1920x1080 but can't get Rimworld to go above that unless I change my screen resolution in windows. Is the a way around that?

my best advice is check theses things:

• Does Rimworld utilize 4k textures?
• Does my hdmi cable support 4k?
• Lastly if you are using windows try to modify your monitor resolution setting in the personalize category in your systems settings tab

First 2 are a yes. I can I just need to make it higher in my personalization resolution for it to work. It's just I was wondering what I could do to not have to change the windows resolution for me to play Rimworld on higher resolutions.
