A Resource Silo would allow for the mass storage of a single type of non unique item (such as steel, wood, components, e.t.c) and with much more space efficiency. It would be loaded via hopper (which seems to have no other use other than the nutrient paste generator) and could store some multiplier of resources per tile. This would be useful for stocking up on raw food, steel, wood, and other items which take up waaaaaay more space than they need to. Resource silos would also prevent decay of items, even when outdoors.
