Helping a friend get a copy of rimworld in steam...

So the multiplayer mod was recently added and my friend and i wanted to play but he doesnt use the steam version of rimworld, we tried to get the steam key for him but he actually doesnt have the email used to buy the game (Its from a family member that he doesnt know the email) is there any other way to get the steam code, or proving that he has a bought copy of the game legit

another way would be, that i download the old rimworld version that is not in steam, but where do i download it?

Why he just don't create his own steam account with that email he used to buy Rimworld ?

He recently bought Rimworld, so he got an email and access to these email.
So he just need to create a steam account with that email too.

I am unsure about the muliplayer mod, but i think you can create a season over discord too and don't need steam. So when he play the non-steam and you the steam version.
