Just wanted to take a minute to sign up for the forums and make a post to say that having just recently discovered RimWorld, I am extremely pleased by it! I've recently been on something of a management/base sim kick, enjoying some other titles like Space Base DF9/Prison Architect. Both were fun but ultimately felt like they were missing something, after constructing a fairly decent sized prison/base there wasn't much to do but sit back and watch it, which has always been my problem with building sim games like SimCity/Tropico...I enjoy them up until the point I'm done building things. If there isn't anything to struggle against, no conflict then a game falls flat on it's face and fails to entertain.

In RimWorld, I always feel up against the wall, pressured by the latest threat to my precious base...Even once your base is well constructed and self-sufficient there is always room for improvement, or for the A.I. to decide to blow half of it up with a pirate siege. Every time I think that I have made my base impenetrable, that no attack could threaten it...suddenly over the hill comes 30 wild savages with bows and arrows, or a handful of crawling aliens with gobs and gobs of HP. Win or lose I'm always having a good time in RimWorld, even as my base burns to the ground and the last few survivors wander the desert aimlessly, I have to chuckle in admiration then wring my hands and scheme my next design.

I'll bring up some minor complaints as well so as not to sound too fanboyish lol. Others have mentioned these things before but I'll go ahead an add my two cents.
-The psychic beacon event was a little too much perhaps, I'm glad to see it's been removed and is being re worked.
-Colonists either fight, or work eat and sleep. This leads to some frustrating issues with builders ignoring gunfire and soldiers not eating/resting. Requires lots of messy micromanagement. Soldiers perhaps should have their needs suspended for a bit while fighting, one doesn't tend to worry about how ugly ones room is when they are fighting for their life against a rabid space squirrel lol.
-I'd love to see other neutral or even friendly parties decide to build stuff on my map, similar to pirate siegers. It would then be the players decision to allow them to live in peace or confront them and drive them off. Perhaps this is an overly ambitious idea? Just throwing it out there.
-Moar stuff to build! (I'm sure your working on it, but I need it so bad it hurts! lol)

Over all I love your game, It's everything I've ever wanted in a base management sim. 5/5 man, keep up the good work!

Glad you're liking the game :) We got even better stuff coming than this, I hope you'll like future versions even more.

Regarding the issues, these are all valuable thoughts, we're working on a ton of stuff to make the game better and this is some of it.

Thanks for the response! I'm super excited to see what gets added in the next couple of builds, especially the traits...even just as fluff I find them really fun and interesting! RimWorld is quickly becoming one of my favorite games to play as of late, It just grabs you and makes you want to keep playing "just 15 more minutes" in a way that no other base management game does, the superb combat engine and depth of tactics makes for even more replayability, and I adore the random character generator as you never know just what sort of motley crew you'll be tasked with commanding (I once had a former noble princess who wouldn't do any sort of labor what so ever.) Having only started a half dozen or so colonies so far, only one surviving past a year, and having never launched a space ship I still already feel like I could write a 500 page book about the adventures and stories I've witnessed!

On top of all that this is one of the first indie games I've played in a while that wasn't a bug ridden, barebones, glorified tech demo and for that I salute/thank you! Your game despite being in alpha state is already a more complete "game" experience than many others I've played that were in beta, and a quick tour of your forums tells me you post here often and communicate frequently with players, unlike many tight lipped indie developers.

I rarely make forum accounts except for PVP games (Hence the name I go by lol) but I felt compelled to tell you what an awesome job your doing, I'm sure sometimes you might feel like your game is lost in a sea of AAA first person shooters and mindless COD fans but a lot of people out there still enjoy a more strategic and thoughtful experience, and your game delivers in spades.

I'll be sure to tell my friends and others about RimWorld as I really think it's got something special going on. Hard to believe it slipped under my radar for so long!

Also take a look at the modding community. Mods can spice the game up so much!
I remember the days of giving prisoners peg legs, and then removing them to immobilize them.

Fruit loops

you may have had raiders and mechs and ONE or TWO squirrels but what aways gets me in th early stages of my base day 1 threw day 365 is the red message that says the local population of either squirrels muffalo or boomrats has gone mad so basicly what ever one of those is chosen the entire species is gonna come at you and murderer you all so that's what is the hardest to me lol
