Save game disappeared after offline play

Hey! This is my first time posting in this forum, so be gentle
I am thoroughly enjoying the game so far, except for one game-breaking bug. I played RimWorld for about 8 hours on a transatlantic flight a couple weeks ago (yay to AC power plugs!) but when I tried to spark up my game two weeks later, none of the stuff I did offline was saved, even though I remember saving very often (am a little paranoid of crashes). Is there anything I can do to recover that save file? I hate losing 8 hours of solid gameplay, my colony was really wicked cool and now its basically gone...

This can happen to any game, sadly, with Steam cloud saves, when playing for extended periods offline.  The only real choices are to a) deal with this type of thing, on occasion, or b) forgo the convenience of cloud saves.

You mean Steam erased your savegame files?

If you changed settings or used some command line arguments they may just be saved in a different place.

If Steam is erasing save files... yeesh, that's kind of scary. I don't think it's something we can really fix from inside the game though...
