I think you problem is, you use a non vanila Sunlamp with a greater range.
You should contact the mod author about that issue.

Well I edit it myself...The vanilla sun lamp xml has such a note: "Determined by trial and error. This value isn't perfect because these radii use different algorithms but it matches in this case."

And now I know it`s real. They won`t match in every case.
