In my randy random world, I've got a huge problem with colonists giving up and leaving during a psychic drone, because there are infinite corpses strewn about the map giving them massive negative thought bonuses.  Or at least that's what it seems like.  I was thinking a "take a break" status, which could be set to individual colonists, would be nice.  While active, they will not perform their tasks (does not affect priorities though) and they will focus on their own needs during that time.  Perhaps some entertainment items like books, gym equipment, etc. could be included to give them something to do.

P.s. does Randy not seem as... random as he used to be? this colony is probably 15-20 hours old and all i get are groups of 150+ people showing up, thats not random.

Oh but that's random! I'm past 1 years and got my first raid of 10 freakin cavedwellers.
For the first half of the year not even ships passed by. A true rimworld. x)

But anyway, something like a...automatic order, 'rest when tired', much like 'eat when hungry' would be nice in my opinion, even without these gym, books ect, selecting a "restzone" which you could overstock with flowers and other nice stuff, a place for them to go before they go nuts, when their happiness level drops below a certain amount. But even without it dropping below critical level, they could randomly take a break, would be nice even though it'd slow down the progress. ^^
To beer or not to beer.
That is a laughable question.

The issue from what I can tell is that colonists will never interrupt their task to address needs. So if they get the task of hauling stuff from one edge of the map to the other even if they starve or are exhuasted they will continue that action until A) they go psycho B) finish it C) you interrupt them by manually cancelling their task or recruiting them then unrecruiting them.

As a curretn workaround if you just quickly toggle them as a soldier then back it clears their queue so if they are hungry/tired those tasks will pop up and they will take care of themselves. Yes it is a manual process but it works. I even use it to interrupt their sleep so they grab a midnight snack.
