What's the update?
Recently, we've implemented reCaptcha to the forums to keep the community more human. This will keep out all those pesky commercial bots along with their bot friends.

What if I find a bug with the reCaptcha?
You can PM me and we can squash that bug together  :).

Wait who are you?
Well, my name is Zach; however, I commonly go by my handler, "woxly". If you have any questions for me, feel free to PM me or contact me via Discord (woxly#4416) ~

Thank you for your time,
Zach

I though new user allready got captcha.
Since we old user don't see them, what is realy new ?
And why the hell you didn't kill the old Zach user (Last Active:    July 24, 2016, 01:53:17 PM) so woxly can use his name ?

Ramsis

In the past I would randomly change the security question for new accounts. The last one was what was Tynan's last name, it works for a while as the bots registering wouldn't directly know the answer but after a while someone types in the answer for the bots and we get flooded. ;3; sadly I've been really sick lately and they decided now would be a great time to strike! Luckily though Zach punched through a marble wall and set up a roadblock that should keep this place safe for a bit!

That will slow them down for sure...  ;D

While they are at bay with this new roadblock... I will still keep watch and my vigilance for any thing suspicious or something that was copied from somewhere in the interwebs around in the forums...

And now time for me to fade back into the shadows...

One "happy family" in the rims...

All hail Zach! Savior of the human-like people!

No reason to hail, lol. I'm just a human-like person such as yourself :).

The Captcha that the forums had wasn't secure enough, so it was just a small update to reCaptcha to "keep the community more human". Also, I like my handler as is. Maybe Zach would like to come back to this wonderful community one day with the name he registered as.

You're quite creative! I like that. Thank you for all your hard work put into the forums, I really appreciate it!

Do you notice, your reCaptcha upgrade didn't help much.
Special since one of these spam posting was about a reCaptcha solving tool.

Ramsis

Hah yeah thanks for the mass reporting folks! I'll gun 'em down where I can while I get this resolved.

I also do my best to help with this, but I feel that it got worse since we have the new system...

Bozobub

Sadly, CAPTCHA and ReCAPTCHA have been busted for a good while, now :P.  It seems to me that the only real, effective option is a constantly-changing set of simple logic word problems, that AI would have a hard time with, somewhat like the old system but significantly more in depth and changed far more often.

Thanks, belgord!

Canute

I notice, most of these SPAM bot create forum entries and add the Yahoo messanger to their profile.

My idea is that profiles with yahoo messanger get on quarantine, or their posting get on quarantine until x succesful postings are made.

woxly

I would like to sincerely apologize for the issues. The ReCaptcha that was being used for the forums has a bug that I need to fix. I apologize to everyone of the spam annoyance. The registration verification has been reverted to the security question answer.

Yes, and my goal is to secure this community from Spam Bots, so I will try my very best to fix this bug.

You're exactly right! That's why it's up & running for right now :)

Thank you for everything you're doing for this community. It is my fault that this reCaptcha is broken, but It will be stable and tested for production before I release it again so I know you will be in safe hands from spam.

Thank you, Ramsis, for gunning 'em down while I'm fixing the security update. I hope you feel better and have a great day!

Haha, I actually saw that and thought the bots were mocking me. Now, I'm more motivated and will do everything I can to stop them from coming to our community :)

I just don't get the point of the botswarm =p.  I mean, I understand it, I guess, but I don't buy from legit online adds, much less the hinky bullshit they always try to peddle.  So who the heck is giving them the traffic that justifies the effort?
Thanks, belgord!

Canute

Dear Bozobub,
gratulation You have WON a special price that only are given out once.
So please Call me back or send my your credit card information so i can transfer it to you.

Doesn't matter if you and 95% of the reader are clever enough to identify that as junk, there is allways a few stupid/unexpierence who believe in that.
And on this few percent they count. They can mass send emails with nearly no cost or use bot to post on many forums.

And NEVER forget, commericals are the warning of the industry, NOT to buy these products.

Tynan

The spammers don't care if you click on the link. They do it for search engines. The more places link to a site, the higher Google will rank it. So they try to produce real-looking links on forums like this.
