Hello, I'M new in this forum. I hope this is the right place to ask performance problems with mods. I don't find anything like this in the mod section. Sorry when it is the wrong place.

I have played Rimworld now for 50 hours. Finally i will play a more complex game with mods. Sadly i have directly problems. When i start a new colony, i get lags every 5 seconds. I think it is a mod which try to control something every 5 seconds, but don't know it. I have all mods from the steam workshop, no offline downloads. I have delete today over 100 mods and I'm sad that no mod seems to create these stutters.
Now i have only mods with which i would play the game. But its unplayable. Maybe somebody know some of these mods and can help me, to find the problematic mod/ mods.
Sadly the start up need about 20mins. Because of this, it is really hard to deactivate mods one by one. (Btw. In the log there is no error, there is nothing from a mod in these 5 seconds.)

Only this every second
" --- Main thread ---
0.0065ms (self: 0.0056 ms) ExecuteToExecuteWhenFinished()
- 0.0009ms (self: 0.0009 ms) Verse.Sound.Sustainer -> Void <Sustainer>m__0()"

Here are my modlist. I think the load order should be okay. I have look into every mod in steam and read the description and i don't get any error at start up. Do you know which mod causes the extrem stutters? I hope somebody know it. When not, i think i need a whole day to figure it out, with the one by one solution :D

Please remember, this is speculation based on imperfect recall that has been recently altered with extravagantly liberal application of THC.  You have been warned ;D!

In no particular order:
  • JecsTools is notorious for causing stutters.  Unfortunately, however, it's also necessary for quite a few fun mods :-\.
  • Script-heavy mods WILL inevitably cause slowdowns and stuttering, at least eventually.  They actually do so from the start but the change may not be perceptible with few mods.  On the other hand, definition-heavy mods tend to cause longer load times but usually won't slow down gameplay much, if at all.  QoL-only mods generally do not have either problem and yes, it IS possible for a mod to be both script- and definition-heavy.
  • Your stutter every 5 seconds is quite likely an artifact of Unity's Garbage Cleanup ("GC") cycle; if so, there's not much you can do about it.
  • If you have not already, you should try one or more of the mod-sorting utilities out there.
  • This thread has a lot of extremely useful advice on how to improve load times.
Hope that helps.

put this in your modlist as well, last mod in list and open the analyzer window when game is running - if colonists are not the top ticks-per-second generator then you have a mod problem ie way too heavy

Some of the mods you have in your list i use as well and had to edit/fix them on account of generating way more ticks than neccessary eg. pipe segments, each pipe segment ticking 60x per second for starters, wall/floor segments added by mods same thing and all that - use shakeyourbunnys mod sorter first - rimpy mod sorter works too but its better for shuffling mods around manually w/o starting game if neccessary

My game was bad and what fixed it was removing Work Tab, took me a long time to figure it out because the problem only started when I set up the work schedule.

What I've noticed lately my TPS went way up when I got the solar flare event - TPS went from 250 to more than 600 during the whole event. So, maybe there's something related to the power grid calculations?

I'm hoping 1.1 will alleviate these problems a lot.

Mods may still slow you down, but at least you shouldn't get stutters.

You'd get 5-second stutters even with no mods, but the mods which significantly exacerbate it is jecstool or alien races.
