Need Help for Turkish Translate (%90 translated)
« on: April 05, 2020, 10:59:03 AM »

Greetings from Turkiye, İzmir.

I am not a translator, but my English is sufficient for the translation of this game.
Our people cannot play this game easily without their mother language and official translation is not enough for now.

By working for about a month, I translated all English files to Turkish on my own and made the game easier to play for Turks.

My translation rate is over 90%. This translation may even be published officially.

But I encountered a few minor problems.

1. There is a coding error that you can see in the screenshot in Royalty quests. The codes just doesn't work here. I put a sample screenshot about the part it works on.

Not working:

Working:

2. It is very interesting, the waters turn black. I did not understand why this occurred, I did not perform a graphical operation. How can i fix that?

3. Commands are still in English.

4. I cannot find the biographies of the characters to translate their backgrounds.

I'm waiting for your help, thank you.

If you want to contribute, I recommend you read How to contribute. The translation project page for Turkish (and all other languages) can be found on GitHub.

Number 1 and 3: Screenshots alone are not enough to determine what is wrong here.

First, you should check if the debug log shows errors or warnings. To do this, activate the developer mode in the options. Then you will see several icons at the top of the screen - the first one is the debug log.

Second, you should create a translation report. You will find the corresponding button on the left side of the main menu if a non-English language is selected, or in the debug actions menu (the fourth icon at the top of the screen if developer mode is active). You can probably find the file on the desktop. There you will see in detail what is wrong.

Number 2: This issue is a purely graphical bug and fits better into the bug forum. This most likely has nothing to do with the translation.

Number 4: If you run the translation cleanup tool (also found on the left side of the main menu), it should create Backstories/Backstories.xml as well. However, this file already exists on the Turkish project page, but probably outdated. In general, it would be recommended to run the translation cleanup tool for Turkish, as the "EN:" comments are missing in many places.

Hi Altay,

First - thanks for translating!

Ragnar covered the basics, but to your points:

1. You'd need to look at the log file. Make this text appear in game. Then, open the Options menu and click "open log file folder", then look in the Player.log file. Then look for the "grammar error". You can search for 'unresolvable' to find it. It will tell you which grammar symbol is failing.

2. It's not your bug, ignore it.

3. You need to translate the words 'cooking at' and 'refueling at'. These are in WorkGivers.gerund.

4. To translate backstories, please just look at how the German repo did it: https://github.com/Ludeon/RimWorld-de

Hey Tynan.

First of all, thank you for bringing us such a detailed game.

It is a great feeling to meet you.

If we come to the solution of the problem;

1. I accessed and examined the file you specified. I tried a few things, but I may be looking at the wrong place. Can you download the file from the link below and support me? I need more explanation.  :-\

Player log: https://www75.zippyshare.com/v/PkzOQft6/file.html

2. When I remove the translation files, the water returns to normal. This problem is probably about me.

3. This problem has been resolved, thank you.

4. Will it be useful if I open the "Backstories" folder into the "Core" folder and translate it from English to Turkish?

Kind regards.

1. Hey so I looked at the log. The problem is that you are asking the system for symbols that it doesn't understand. Like this:

Quote
2      asker_nameFull → <color=#D09B61FF>Bonosaslos Anlo</color>
2      asker_faction_name → <color=#00BFFFFF>Empire of Tanrı</color>
2      asker_royalTitleInCurrentFaction → Kontess
2      asker_pronoun → o
2      animalKindDef_label → Kış Tavşanı
2      asker_pronoun → o
2      asker_pronoun → o
2      asker_nameDef → <color=#D09B61FF>Anlo</color>
       harita_definite → UNRESOLVABLE
       harita_definite → UNRESOLVABLE
2      asker_possessive → ona
2      asker_objective → ona
2      asker_pronoun → o
2      asker_pronoun → o
2      royalFavorReward → 8
2      asker_faction_royalFavorLabel → Kraliyet İyiliği
     questDescription → UNRESOLVABLE

This means that the text includes "[harita_definite]", but "harita_definite" is never defined. So the system doesn't know what to do with it.

The solution is:
Look in the Player.log
Search for "UNRESOLVABLE"
You'll see a line like: FailLetterEndingCommon → UNRESOLVABLE
This means that your text said [FailLetterEndingCommon]. But this is a mistake, becase the symbol is actually "failLetterEndingCommon". You can see the list of symbols above the error message.

Then just change your symbol to match something that is defined.

2. Oh, in that case, you may be translating something you shouldn't. Please be sure you're only translating game text, not any other data. This is probably something in TerrainDef.

3. Great.

4. Yes, though this is the lowest priority. It's good to translate all the titles first though.

Please get in contact with other Turkish translators and commit your changes to the main GitHub repo! Read the pinned post in this forum and email to get access and get set up.
