I've really enjoyed this game, and the DLC, not as much as the base game, but enjoyed none the less.

Tonight I experienced something I didnt think fit with the final victory scenario.  Losing is Fun difficulty, Royalty DLC, Unstable version:  I had one of the Praetors/defenders of the Royal go on a murderous rage.  Experience has shown me that any of my pawns arresting a member of the royal faction puts them at war with me the player.  Well tonight I tried to use the King to arrest the murdering Praetor and immediately failed the final quest.  Seems the King should be able to discipline his protectors.  Nope.  Fail.

Ok, so I reloaded from the auto save and continued on.  So again a praetor goes on a murderous rage, this time attempting to kill one of the other sworn protectors of the King.  I have no choice but to let it play out.  As randomness would have it.  The murderer didnt kill the other praetor as the wounded was able to crawl to a medical bed and my Dr snuck in and tended to the injured.  Because of this, the murderer shifted focus to kill the KING! The guy's whole life is protecting the King, and now he's gonna kill him.  What?!?!  Why?!?  So if I arrest the Murder, failed victory attempt.  If I kill him, failed victory attempt.  I was only able to continue the quest for victory because the murdering praetor was downed, and miraculously not killed....but not really, as my King had a bad back and was also pummeled by the murderer and his mood dropped and the quest was failed.

From a personal experience, and a seasoned player, I need to advocate for removing Murderous Rage as a possible mental break for any of the Royals protectors.  ESPECIALLY against the KING!  Sure, I may be a bit jaded, but it seems an incredibly dumb way and poorly programed way to lose the final scenario.

Since you allready did reloads, try out to spawn some psychic lances. I am not sure if the use on him is a hostile act or you just loose some relations.
When you down him with the lance the rage should end, and when you beserk him you should be able to fight him without consequence.
Ofcouse you could give him a joint/beer,tea so his mood get raised and he prolly don't get a murderous rage.

From the rimworld side, the king is nothing special, the muderous rage go against a random pawn or against someone with bad opinion.

And that these protectors are dangerous to use is allready know, never use them at the first line while your pawn's stay at the back and maybe could do some friendly fire -> relation loose-> war.

Royalty flipping out and murdering each other sounds pretty normal to me; Have you heard of the Romans? Working as intended.

As AileTheAlien says. The Praetorian Guard of the Roman empire became notoriusly untrustworthy, in total the Praetorians either murdered or ordered the murder of about 15 Roman emperors.

In the dlc the Empire uses escort soldiers called Janissaries, which originally were an elite force of the Ottoman empire. Similarly to the Praetorian Guard the Janissaries became very corrupt, and they started and were involved in countless rebellions and plots against their emperors. They even had special ceremonies and customs they used to express their disobedience.

The way I would handle this: imprison the attemptingkiller but don't put him in the jail. Cancel imprisoning before reaching the jail. When attempting killer comes near his target repeat until he calms down.
Edit: I just realized it wouldn't work.
In the last 15 days don't be afraid to use yayo to prevent these situations.
