Royalty DLC not detected, Rimworld bought from Steam and royalty from ludeon.com

As the title implies I extracted the Royalty file from ludeon.com and placed it beside Core in my steam version of Rimworld, and after loading rimworld the DLC is not detected. Is there a fix for this such as an activatable DLC key?

Be sure you copy it right.
You should see at the rimworld installation
Data
     Core
     Royalty
          About
          Assetbundles
....

But i have no idea how the steam version check for the DLC.
Since you can get a free steam key even for the DLC i would use that, and register the DLC at steam too.

Yup i have the Royalty file in the Data folder where it says "place expansions here".

And I will do so, I wasn't aware that it was possible to claim the steam key.
