Seriously, it seems like a basic utility. Particularly now that the damage overhaul means animals get incapped.

I'm sorry, but at least a few of you on the forums probably hunt. If a deer is still alive, but not moving at all, do you still stay 30-40 meters away and keep firing for five more minutes? Or do you, y'know. Walk up and put it out of its misery?

The same goes for raiders. Let me finish them off if I'm too angry at them to sell them as slaves or let them join me. Even if it's just a switch over to the melee command that doesn't require you draft them. Bonus points: After fear is back implemented, let me bury one guy alive and tell the guy I rescued about it, just to enforce in his mind why he should think carefully before telling me "no" again.

And related to this idea, can't we arrest people who are having non-violent breakdowns or are fleeing? I mean, if they're not fighting back, I'd think it'd be pretty easy to grab them quickly.

You do have forced attack you know... its how I've been putting them down...
Poke poke, stab stab.

Yeah, for raiders, you can send your colonists to melee them. It would definitely be a good idea for hunters, though - unconscious animals have a 'prone' accuracy modifier that makes them much harder to hit, to the point where hunters can starve themselves trying to shoot an unconscious squirrel.

I phrased it poorly and while quite a bit tired.

What I mean is that I shouldn't have to micro my hunters to know not to stand downwind of a crippled deer to finish it off for meat. Ideally, it should be a "coup de grace" thing where they just finish them off by slitting the throat. Same with incapped enemies, just a button to "finish them". Punching a downed enemy until he's dead just seems a little bit silly when they're incapable of fighting back, as does standing far away and shooting ad infinitum.

RawCode

They already do it.
Order colonist to melee incaped enemy and it will one hit it.

Automatic process of this will cause you colonists to rush to their death in order to melee rider (that you actually panned to capture) or rush to deer and get crossfired by other hunters...

I'd love to see an automatic process like this applied just to hunters and not dealing with raiders. you know, as a job specific process. If the hunted creature is down but not dead treat it like it's dead anyway just applying a single coup de grace before picking it up. Something like this would reduce cross fire by not having someone stand in one place firing at a single megascarab for 2 days XD
Micromanagement can't be the answer to everything. Some things you should just be able to run reasonably well by themselves and something like hunting which would require you to follow someone to the far corners of the map and away from your base really is one of those things.
I have enough trouble making sure my colonists don't walk into the middle of the visiting swam of locusts as they start to turn on each other.
It doesn't matter how many arms a colonist has as long as one of them is a Minigun!

I agree with your idea, there should be an epic way to kill last enemy or "leader". Not just right click > Meele at enemy, it sure does look stupid.
