Private Testers?

I wonder what a Private Tester does. Public Testers help the devs to find bugs and stuff, but what do Private Testers do?

They're just testers who have been around for longer and who I know can post high quality bugs. Main difference is they can post directly in Mantis. I also sometimes send them less-mature builds of the game to test.
