Your point is correct but I would assume it would be to continue old saves. As the game will not run if the old items aren't present.
If the author doesn't want to continue I can always have a look quick.
Shouldn't take more than 5/10 minutes

MOD UPDATED FOR ALPHA 8!

Just spent 15/20 minutes updating it   whilst feeding my son, I hope the OP doesn't mine,
I added my name to the file just so say I updated to alpha 8

I have downloaded the attachment from elstrages and it worked for me, perhaps it was a corrupt download
