Adds sofas and various tables made of stuff to the game. Pretty basic, just getting my feet wet with modding.

The AI will use sofas in the same way stools are used; colonists will only sit on them when they're eating if there is an adjacent table.

Download Version 0.0.3 [Alpha 8]
Download Version 0.0.3a (alternate table style) [Alpha 8]
Download Version 0.0.2 [Alpha 7]

Note: I am not an artist, these amazing high quality sofa graphics are the product of a random Photoshop tutorial. Anyone more talented than myself is welcome to contribute!
Thanks to Plymouth for the updated art! Anyone who wants to is still welcome to contribute :)

Oo, they should have different beauty modifiers. Could be good :)
I like how this game can result in quotes that would be quite unnerving when said in public, out of context. - Myself

The dubious quotes list is now public. See it here

As someone who enjoys couch eating, I approve of this mod, I mean.. chairs and tables are fine, but nothing beats your la-Z-boy lazy reclining couch with foot rest and cup holder.

skullywag

Skullywag modded to death.
I'd never met an iterator I liked....until Zhentar saved me.
Why Unity5, WHY do you forsake me?

considering you say you aren't an artist, those couches look pretty darn good. I'll wait to download this for when the couches add more beauty than the stools do though.

I would not mind seeing these coupled with a new 1x2 coffee table. They don't look quite right at a big dinner table to me but they do still look better than stools. Maybe an idea for the future is to have Couches with coffee tables and some actually dining room chairs to go with the dinner tables. Also some 1x1 side tables could be a fun addition, though I believe someone already made some of those for another mod.

I like the idea of the Clutter mod, but I prefer my clutter to have some use other than just take up space and look pretty. Maybe you could make a "Functional Furniture" mod or something which just adds more skins for the various pieces of furniture (as well as more beauty than the standard versions) especially the standing lamp. Just a bare bulb on the ground doesn't look very good, or very lamp-like.

Hope you take these suggestions how they were intended. Good luck on your modding venture. Can't wait to see this one evolve. :)

Thanks for the kind words!

I copied most of the stats for couches from the bed object, so they should have a better beauty modifier than the stools (beds are 15 and stools are 3) - it is a bit low though, I can certainly raise that.

Totally agree about the other furniture, I hate seeing my comm/research room look bare when it feels like it should be a living room. I imagine coffee tables are easier to make graphics for than dining chairs so I'll tackle that first!

;D Yes if there was a way to make the couches have a beauty modifier for the colonist to enjoy being in a space where the couches were it would be a great addition to the mod.  If it could be colored (like the beds in Ts mod) that would also be a great addition.  I do agree with the other guy on the new tables to go with it.  In A7 we have the opportunity to have different metals/ores build our items, and some metal give a beauty modifier so in combination to the couch made out of these beauty metal, it could be one satisfying room to be in with these additions.

I looked into this a bit more, it seems that the game code will automatically apply different beauty modifiers depending on what material is used -- for example, a metal sofa is +15, wood is +26, and silver is +63. Plant pots start at +80 so perhaps a boost is needed on the sofas :)

Edit: PKGameOnly beat me to it! Colored sofas would be awesome, I'll add that to the list.

Ok I downloaded it and will try it out on my next game. Just thought you should know you zipped the file one directory down from where you should have zipped it. When I unzipped it to my mods folder there were 4 new folders named _MACOSX About Defs and Textures. I just made a new folder named Sofa Mod and put those in there. Should fix the issue for those who don't know.

Oops! I re-uploaded it, should be alright now. Thanks for letting me know.

You know, a wee tiny bit of shading would enhance the look (I'll play and if I come up with something decent will let you know, but I for one love these, thanks a ton, will be adding them in to my normal gameplay!

Shinzy

Angie's right there! little bit of shading does miracles
If you have something like Gimp you can very easily add some shading with
the Dodge/Burn tool to Lighten/Darken the pixels

The best part is you really don't need any artistic skill for this (I mean it's not even implemented yet *cough*)
just a quick brush around the edges =P Try it!

Thanks Shinzy (and Angie!) -- I was checking out your mods this morning, you're a very talented artist :)
Planning to get to shaders and hopefully more furniture this weekend.
