How are the animals spawned?

Quite curious about it in my current game (a giant mouintain with scarce land). Do they breed or are they spawned according to their numbers? If I kill all the muffalo will there be more?

They should randomly spawn to areas with access to the very edge
you can safely commit genocide on them

Muffalos have much rarer spawn rate so it could take a while for them to spawn
but there should be constant supply of squirrels and boomrats around

After a psycho wave, I killed all boars on the map. It took almost 6 months, for them to reappear. Squirrel for everybody.

My last game on Alpha 6, there were two large herds of deer on the map that were hunted completely and then that was it. My colony ate buzzants from then onwards until the end of time. To be fair, the buzzants probably suppressed the deer spawning on the code side of things because there's probably well over a hundred of the little things on the map at once.

Animals spawn depending on the overall ecology score. If the ecology score is low enough, a new animal will spawn. A muffalo adds more to the ecology score than any other animal, and also has the least chance to spawn. If you want more muffalos to spawn, keep hunting other animals and you will eventually get a new herd.

So punny....

*modder brain engaged* can we use the random texture path with pawns...if so we could use these images of yours shinzy to pepper these amongst normal animals...ill check later.
