Problem with Zoom

Okay, please forgive my lack of computer knowledge.

I have a mac, and I used to have the problem where I would only see a black screen and a mouse. I figured out how to change the game to a windowed version and that worked enough so that I can see the game. However, I can't see the whole game. My window is too zoomed in. Changing the resolution doesn't help. I can't start a new colony, because the right buttons are not in my window. Please help!

Can you at least get into your options when the game starts? if you can go on that and click "change resolution" and try picking the lowest one to begin with so you can see what your doing (usually 1024x768)
