Mannable walls

The walls as they are now work as a regular house wall.
But that prevents us from building proper fortifications.

A mannable wall would be a tall wall that has parapets on both (or just 1) sides. Creatures can walk along the wall, but they need a ladder/stairs to access it.
Colonists on the wall get a visual range bonus and accuracy bonus, plus a defense bonus.
In case the ladders/stairs are destroyed, one can jump down but suffers fall damage.

And maybe raiders also could bring ladders to cross unmanned walls! That would be great  :)
However, I don't think this will make it, Tynan said no Z-levels.

that would be pseudo z-levels and Tynan said he wont do them.  if he does any kind of z-levels they will be all the way.

there is a mod for embrasures, characters can shoot through.

A pseudo Z-level, yes. Seems the simplest to implement that way.
Nothing can be built beneath the wall.

The lack of castle-building is worrying.

So basically a floor that can only be accessed by a special block or series of blocks.
TBH Watch towers have always been used IRL so having them in the game would be cool, even an aim bonus, and evade bonus would be quite welcome.

I was thinking a wall platform that needed a stairs building to enter it, but not sure the code would allow entry from 1 side only....?
