I’ve played the game since A4 or something like that after I saw play-through series on YouTube.
So far, art doesn’t really do anything and so I wanted to make it more relevant.
What if the art of a colonist affected the beauty stats of structures/furniture they build?
Construction speeds up the construction process (already implemented) and Art makes stuff prettier. For example, colonist with more than, say 8 artistic level gets 20% beauty increase so his wooden walls would have 12 beauty instead of 10 (numbers are all hypothetical). I guess this makes sense in real life too since a skilled builder would makes chairs faster, while an artistic builder makes then prettier. This way having an artistic colonist would increase the likelihood of your colonists getting a thoughts boost from being in a beauty environment.
Maybe this is too complicated and unclear I don’t know. What are you guys’ thoughts? I know nothing about codes/programming so not sure if this is actually feasible.

Having artistic colonists make paintings/statues/etc and being able to sell them for a profit is another suggestion, but if I’m not mistaken, that’s already on the way.

Art is coming in the next alpha (8) it will work somewhat like you describe as well.
Skullywag modded to death.
