While setting keyboard shortcuts from the in-game menu, the , and . keys select the next and previous colonist even when the "set key" dialog is open. This prevents assigning those keys to any other action.

Turns out the underlying problem is that the next and previous colonist keys work even when the menu is open. It _is_ possible to assign next and previous colonist to keys other than , and . but if you do that, then , and . continue to work to select colonists until the "Save" button is pushed. At that point, the new buttons continue to work while the menu is open, and those buttons can no longer be assigned to other functions.

Does this happen to other functions as well, like zoom in/out? If so then it should be easily fixed. Tynan just has to turn off shortcut capture when the menu is open.
I like how this game can result in quotes that would be quite unnerving when said in public, out of context. - Myself

The dubious quotes list is now public. See it here

Those two keyboard shortcuts are the only ones that function while the menu is open, and are the only ones that cannot be captured while setting new shortcuts.
