Question regarding temperature background calculations

Hiho,

I asked myself how sophisticated is the temperature calculation of rimworld ... so in order to survive in a very harsh environment I tried building a home surrounded by a heated corridor (see the image below). But strange things happened ... even though the corridor is heated up to 20°C and the outside temperature is -40°C the inside is 14°C. Is the roof surface taken into account?

The screenshot was taken a bit after I encountered this issue and after I redesigned most of the corridors/rooms.

Yes, heat does transfer through the roof. In a base that size, many times more heat goes out the ceiling than the walls. "Overhead mountain" roofs are much easier to heat or cool, though.

One other important thing to note is that heat doesn't conduct through to the other side of double thickness walls (it just disappears to "outside"). So your "heat moat" corridor is completely isolated from your inner base all the way around and does very little to reduce the heat lost through the walls.
