A quick search shows this wasn't mentioned yet. But the game lends itself perfectly for a treasury room.
A room requiring furniture to store more money. Change it so the colony can only hold $100 per colonist unless more money storing furniture is placed. There could be cheap tables or electronic safes that would require electricity to operate.

But the kicker would be that this is another target for raiders. They have something to go for rather than simply murdering everybody.

I like the idea of giving the raiders another target to go for. It doesn't make that full sense right now, as you said.

It would also expand the opportunities for base- constructioning.

A nice idea but i think Tynan mentioned that money will be cut out completely as it has no real meaning on a desolate planet.

That's a shame really, I would rather see it change to "valuables" then. As any form of civilization will use -something- as a form of currency. Maybe by making it vague like "valuables" it is something left to the player's imagination but would still form a nice idea for more base building and more targets for the raiders.
