Building bases inside mountains

O.o that is INSANE! I love your mountain... and i also now see how you dig in like that without it all falling on you... pillars ever 4 or every 6 squares?

There are 5 blocks between each pillar.

This used to be how I mined it, but then I decided to dig it all out for the sake of selling the stone :p

I got airducts next to every room. Keeps every room always at a perfect steady temperature.

Get those hallway "airducts" near enough to the side of the mountain, and add a "no-roof" single tile region.

If it really does open you to drop pods, then just turn up the heat (or, rather, turn down the AC target temp) and bake anybody foolish enough to drop into the airducts.
