Two (and a half) questions on storytellers and stonemasonry

1. Can we mod our own storytellers in?

2. If I build a stonemasons table and order up stone cutting and assign a worker to prioritize stonecutting, will s/he specifically cut stone that I need for undersupplied construction projects or will s/he just randomly cut whatever stone is laying about?

2b. Is stonecutting Construction or Crafting?

1. I don't know about adding storytellers but you can certainly modify the frequency and types of events that occur.

2. You can specify what type of stones are worked and how many on the cutting table's bill. I usually just tell them to start cutting X type of stone indefinitely but you can set it up for a specific project if you wanted.

2b. Crafting

1. Haven't tried recently, but I know it used to be possible.  Should still be possible.  The storytellers are defined in an xml file somewhere.  Your mod just needs to define another storyteller in a similar manner.

2. They'll stonecut according to the stonecutter table Bill.  It has nothing to do with any construction plans involving Stone Blocks (sadly).  But as EZ said, you can specify a certain amount of blocks to cut.  Keep in mind the search radius, or you'll get your stone cutter running halfway across the map to grab a rock chunk.

2b. Also note that there are SEVERAL Crafting jobs, and a Crafting colonist might do stone cutting, or cremating, or tayloring, or smithing, or slag refining...  Sometimes you need to right-click Prioritize to make things happen.

Does anyone know how that works by the way? I assume there's a priority system for various crafting tasks but I couldn't even hazard a guess as to how it was structured.
A prison yard is certainly a slightly more elegant solution to Cabin Fever than mine...

I just chop their legs off... legless prisoners don't suffer cabin fever

Yeah I figured out the whole prioritize thing, but I only have two crafting tablers with active jobs and I have 2 crafters, so I only have to proritize occasionally.

Doh on the job details, I already use this on the other tables and must have had a blonde moment/brain fart because I didn't even think to check if it worked the same on the stonemasons workbench. Thanks for jogging that stuck neuron in my brain.

Cremating takes top priority. I think stonecutting next, and then tailoring and smithing, but I am not sure in which order. For the last two, if a colonist has started a job on one of them, they will complete that first, or at least, that's what I think I saw.

^ I'm not so sure about that.  I've had colonists prioritize stonecutting over cremating - at least I think I have.  I assumed it had something to do with the nearest Crafting bench when a pawn was trying to decide what to do next.

Cremating as a craft..wow, that is mind-blowing :)

I wonder if that could be mixed with sculpting, nice gold urns that you could set in a trophy room to show off how many enemies you've destroyed, or put in your colonist rooms to remember fallen friends, both "beautifying" the rooms.
