I wish more games drew me in like RimWorld, but honestly, they are few and far between. Call me jaded, I guess. I have been playing since the Kickstarter ended and still have those days. Was off yesterday and thought I'd play an hour or two, ended up having an amazing run on Cassandra Classic at the Challenge difficulty. Started playing around 8am and didn't turn it off until almost 5pm. All vanilla, too. Great day off, honestly. I really think this game is going to explode when it gets on Steam.

I've been trying to just 'roll with it' the last couple updates, but if I'm pretty far along and something really unlucky or shitty happens, I'll reload. Only did it once in a game so far in 8, and that was because two incendiary mortar strikes in a row hit two of my geothermal generators and got the middle burning, so I had to just watch them die, nothing I could do. I'm of the mind that colonists should be able to get to any part of an object to put a fire out.

Just want to confirm this bug. Currently having my 1xCreate Sword spawn multiple half-finished swords. Same with sculptures. Didn't occur to me it was happening until I realized my plasteel was almost all gone, so can't say how much time had passed or what exactly my crafters/art people had been up to before it happened. Did watch one crafter work on a sword, go eat, sleep, wake up and then grab fresh materials to start another sword.

Bugs / Re: Craftsman working on 2 swords at the same time

Not sure what I'm doing, but I'm having the problem where my colonists will start a new job versus finishing an old job. Now I have almost a dozen unfinished swords and statues and instead of finishing those, the colonists keep making new ones. Same colonist doing one job will go eat, sleep, then come back and grab a new batch of material to start the same job over again. I have the table set to craft 1 sword, so no overlap because of that.

Perhaps oddly, I like watching the slow decay of a grand colony after the last colonist has died or fled. Raiders break down the doors before giving up and leaving, animals start hanging out in the courtyard, a wildfire cuts the power, and the grand entrance is slowly reduced to a hole in a rough stone wall. I also really like when I can find a steam vent deep in the mountain. Wired up and safe from harm, generators keep the lights stay on, the comms blare a message on endless loop, and the automated defenses keep watch over the bones of the dead. I imagine that the locals warn their children to keep away from the dreaded mountain keep from where so few return from.

There is definitely beauty in decay. I am going to have to remind myself to just let the game roll next time I get steamrolled. Love your outlook on the matter.

I like how invested I get in the game, how I end up getting attached to some colonists, and slowly end up loathing others. I like how the game is - on the surface - sort of cute and colorful, but once you are neck deep in a mechanoid raid and half your base is on fire, just how goddamn awful and horrifying and bloody it is. I love the tactical side of things, the strategic building requirements, the polish. It's just such a great blend of different elements, and one of the most immersive games I've played in a while. I'm a long time gamer and a bit jaded by a lot of the chaff out there, but this little nugget of wheat is sublime and will eat entire weekends if I let it.

Not just content, content that changes the game up, makes you adapt and find new ways of doing things. I feel like RimWorld is going to be one of those games I will be sad to see leave alpha, but then again modding will only keep it going indefinitely, I hope.

Oh god, I didn't need to find Gizoogle. Pointed it back to the forums for a test run, was not disappointed.

"Yo, smoke up knowledge on how tha fuck ta mod RimWorld."

I feel like not only are the updates satisfactorily frequent, they are mostly pretty significant. In my mind Tynan is doing an outstanding job, far surpassing my expectations.

It's ridiculous how many hours of fun I've had out of this alpha. Every single stage of development has been fun and exciting to watch and play. And it keeps getting better. I personally would love to see Tynan keep working on this game indefinitely, he certainly knows what he wants to do, and seems to enjoy finding ways to both make our colonists' lives easier and at times a total, brutal living hell. Glorious stuff, been my most played and favorite game for a long while now.

The art style was proposed to change, but after consideration, they stuck with what we have. There is an artist on board, I forget his/her name but it's the same artist who worked on Gnomoria as well as a few other indies, Starbound being another I know of for sure. I personally love the art style and hope they never change it, except for maybe a few distinct items.

Really do hope the art thing gets into this alpha, the stat has been there taunting me forever. I used to love the carvings and whatnot in Dwarf Fortress, spent entirely too much time prettying up my fortresses, will probably do a lot of that in RimWorld depending on how Tynan approaches it. And I'm on board for leisure requirements. Give us some Star Wars holo-chess to play, or badminton, or Super Raider World. :)

This update is looking as good if not better than 7. Weather alone is going to make me change my whole style of play, cannot wait! I think Thanksgiving sounds perfect, Tynan. :) (Christmas would be fine, too.)

A8 will be great even if we were to only get the temperature system in place. Freezing in the tundra, dieing of heat exhaustion in the desert. Hope Tynan takes his time with this one, A7 has been the most fun I've had with the game, really starting to come together nicely.

I could watch this series endlessly. Thanks for sharing.
