Title: [MOD] (Alpha 3F) Cremation Inc. (v.6.2)

Cremation Inc.



Description:
This mod adds new ways to get rid of the corpses. You must first research the new technology. Then build a morgue table. After that your colonists can pack the corpses in body bags ( you get a dog tag to count how many corpses your colonists have used). The next step is either to burn the body bags with the cremation oven ( other ways possible as well) or you use the morgue table to build a coffin out of a body bag and some metal ( planks in the wood edition) . Bury the coffin in a stone grave to get +10 happiness and -2 fear or just burn it in the cremation oven.
Research the office table technology and build the table to create different boxes for selling.


============Recipes==========================
The sealed box needs: minimum crafting skill 10 + 10 dog tags + 10 metal (or planks in the wood edition) + 1 bounty licence (or 1 faked bounty licence)
The unofficial box needs: minimum crafting skill 7 + 10 dog tags +10 metal (or planks in the wood edition)+ 1 unofficial bounty licence
The squirrel box needs: minimum crafting skill 5 + 10 squirrel trophies +10 metal (or planks in the wood edition)

Update 6.0:
-the cremation oven can now burn body bags and coffins. in standby it needs 20 W. for burning it needs 500 W. needs the cremation table.
-changed the cremation hopper to cremation table. can be placed everywhere. can store corpses, body bags and coffins.
-changed the trophy cabinet. it can be lighted to get some more happiness (needs 50 W power).if filled with squirrel trophy = +1 happiness ( additional +4 if lighted). if filled with medal +6 happiness and -2  fear ( additional +4 happiness if lighted )
-removed the cremation mine and the fire door
-some more improvements ( text in game, bug fixes, textures)
-not compatible with older saves ( removed some things )                                 

Update 6.1:
-improved the cremation oven: can now count cremations, reduced the burning time, new research added ( halves the burning time)
-changed the trophy cabinet so no yellow warning appears
-some minor fixes

New Update 6.2:
-improved the cremation oven : has now a bar which shows the burning time, some smoke effects when burning,  changed the texture a bit
-the oven has now a interaction square
-some minor code improvements

How to install:
- Unzip the contents and place them in your RimWorld/Mods folder.
- Activate the mod in the mod menu in the game.

Notes:
-I release an additional version of the mod. if you use  the wood economy mod  (http://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=2162.0) the coffin needs planks instead of metal. the boxes can be build with metal or planks. Install the preferred one.
-some recipes need a higher artistic skill so my other mod could be useful E-learning (http://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=3414.0)
- the fire door file contains a simple fire door ( not powered) . if you like more doors : Doors (http://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=3597.0)

I make a mid sized concrete platform, make a dumping zone on top of it, and then surround it with a home zone. So now your colonists dump all the bodies in one place and then you can hit the pile with molotovs and your colonists will put out any fire the spreads into the home zone.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong here (if anything) but I cant seem to get anything showing up in the research tab for any of the items listed in the mod. I tried it with the mod by itself, reinstalling it, turning it off and on, starting a brand new game, etc. nothing seems to make it want to work. Any ideas why this is not working?

The 7.z file contains the two versions of the mod. Maybe you unzip the main file? If so the mod list show you "Cremation Stuff". You must unzip one of the files inside the main file. In the mod list it should be shown "Cremation Stuff 3.1" (or if you use the wood edition "Cremation stuff 3.1 wood" ). I just looked at the file, the research should work fine. You can research the fire door and the morgue table.

What's up with the dog tags? I love the rest of the mod, but what's the point of a new resource that doesn't serve a purpose and just gives me something else that I have to haul around?

It s a way to count how many corpses you have buried ( someway like a killcounter)

New update 3.2 : now you can do something with the dog tags  :D

Fake licences can be made with just silver in office table. I think it's not intended.

thx  :), well you can put them in the new office cabinet  ;), burn them, sell them ( but it s a money-losing business), fake them or u just make the thing which was intended : 1 bounty licence + 10 dog tags + 10 metal will be made in the office table to a sealed box. this sealed box goes back to the combat supplier ( he buys it for a high price). you can also see in the pictures what to do with the licence ( if the pictures are mistakable let me know,  as the author perhaps i dont see the things like other users)


my thought was this : you kill some bad guy and after u rid their corpses they left some personal belongings ( dog tags). but kill somebody for no reason is even in the world of rimworld not really acceptable. so you need a document which says that u act legal ( bounty licence). to get your reward you must send back the evidence of the legal kills ( dog tags as the evidence + bounty licence that you acted under the law + metal to build = sealed box to send all the stuff back)

How do you get an "unofficial bounty hunter licence"? My crafting is not high enough for a sealed box but it is for an unofficial box.

why in alpha 3 my colonist always hauling body after make it, i prefer he doing job first until all body done then start hauling body bag...it waste time when make one body bag the hauling it..cuz my other colonist can hauling it.

Hi, i think it s the normal AI behavior. A possibile solution is to keep the ways as short as possible. I have a zone for the body bags which is near to the morgue table so it takes not to much time to haul them .That means you need a good colony management ( i prefer this because i think colony management is part of the game). Another solution could be to code the body bags so that they apear forbidden but then you have to unforbidde them each time so it could be even more management (besides i dont know if it is possible to code)

Ok, maybe you re right. I try to make a version with body bags forbidden at start. I post the version here in a few days when i get access to my computer again. If you have a better idea please suggest (dont know if my solution is possible but will try it )

Nice suggestion,the other mod have an easy way to depose of bodies.  right for somebody who wants it in an easy way. My mod is for them who want a more complex way. I dont know how to merge this different ways to solve the “corpse problem“ in a reasonable way

Make it like a mod pack with both mods in so the player has an option of what table to use like making a raider go poof on one table and making a coffin for a colonist.

Ok,thx. I look if it is possible to merge the mods ( need permission for this). Maybe an extra version, so you can choose out of three versions (my mod,the other mod and the merged version).  I will do this the next days (no access to my computer at the moment) if there is a need for this version and i got the permission

I thought about this and i took a look how the corpses get the names, i think it s possible in a similar way but because i have no experience in c sharp it will take some  time to code this (must learn c sharp from the beginning). Maybe i m wrong and it ist not possible so i cant promise to much but it is a goal for the future

lol.... Currently using Cremation and I never have to worry about body bags anymore... Apparently at the butchering table I can chop up coffins and body bags and poof they disappear with nothing in return. Now I won't have to worry about masses of graves/coffins unless it's for one of my colonists.

This is from evil genius. If you like the idea, could you make a rack like this for bodybags?
In evil genius the bags degrade and disappear after a while and that's how they're disposed of.
I was putting the bodybags in graves and burning them, now just put them all in a stockpile to burn(smaller space), is that the normal method of disposal with this mod?

Ok, i tried different things and it seems that it is the normal AI behavior ( not only body bags but also meals, stone blocks and all the things). in the moment i cant really to something about that. seems not possible to make the body bags so that they are forbidden at start.at least i dont see a practical solution.( in one case the colonist really didnt haul the body bags, but for this you have to delete the zone for storing the body bags. and this isnt really an improvement). sorry, but as i said the best way is to optimize the ways and zones, it is part of the game...

cremation is the intended way ( and bury of course) but not the butcher table  ;D, thx for the hint i fix this as soon as possible, never thought on this...

Edit: just fixed it , butcher table no longer accept body bags and coffin

yes burning and putting them in graves is the normal method, but you made a nice suggestion. thx  :). i try  to make something like this

I can't create sealed box. My colonsit have 19 crafting skill and won't create it anyway. I have an offical huting licence (and 2 unofficial)  and some dogtags. And of course metal. I need something more??

Hi, i just tried it a i had no problem. You need a crafting skill 10 , 1 bounty licence ( or 1 faked bounty licence) + 10 dog tags + 10 metal. maybe you had not enough dog tags?

Hi @ll,

for the next bigger update (v.7.x)  i plan to remove and change some things. Since the cremation oven has a build-in counter the dog tags lost their initial function. So i think about changing the system of selling dog tags ( dog tags + licence + metal = box ). What do you think about it? Which things can be removed since nobody use it?  Or should i go the opposing way and expand the existing system?

The next updates will be polishing and fixing updates (v.6.x.x) so make suggestions for balancing and maybe small thing that can be added (these versions should keep the save compatibility). Whats about the thoughts for example? Are they balancing enough or should they be changed? The price for the boxes? And so on...
If somebody can make good textures please contact me because im not very happy with the textures of the trophy cabinet and the office cabinet.
And a last request. Can a native english speaker take a look on the textes ingame?

I'm going to miss the fire door. I know it had an error, but I really liked it, I use it all the time. It was a bit out of place in this mod (actually didn't know this was the mod that added it.) Do you have plans of fixing or re-adding it?

you re right it was a bit out of place. i dont really plan to re-add the fire door but if you want try for so long this other fire door (http://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2413.0;attach=2210) ( not powered )
