Bugs / [A16 Unstable] Colonists wont unequip parkas
December 18, 2016, 06:13:59 PM
I made muffulo wool parkas for my colonists for the winter and they worked extremely well. However, when summer came around the colonists would not take them off unless i told them to and by that time i had forgotten they had them so i just had colonists burning up because they refused to take them off themselves. They were not forced to wear it either.

I sent a colonist in a caravan to another town and they died of heatstroke on the way because they had a parka on and they wouldn't take it off and there was no way for me to make them take it off.

It means that you got it from a dead body; it gives the colonist that wears it a negative mood modifier.

I looked to see if there was a thread on this already, but couldn't find one, apologies if there is.

I attempted to send my colonists to a raider outpost using the launcher pods to attack them, when they arrived at their destination they disappeared. The map loads in and everything but once I unpause time it kicks me back out to the worldview and my colonists are gone. I am able to assault the facility if i just send a caravan, and I have tried with smaller maps and the issue is still there.

you know you guys sound kinda snobby an up yourselves..

its like your saying "they're not playing my way so they're a scrub" :\

everyone plays different, theres no "wrong" way to have fun :\
I did not say it was a bad base, and if the OP got that intention, I apologize. It is a cool base, I have never built one like that, but that is only because I reach that point where no amount of raiders can breach my defenses and it becomes boring. Playing on one of the less mountainous maps makes that point come far later most of the time.

While I commend her for building a fantastic base, I just don't like these types of colonies, they seem more like concentration camps than colonies. I also don't like mountainous maps because makes it so easy. On the other map types (especially flat and small hills) it is so much harder because you cant hide behind indestructible rock walls. I challenge your fiance to play on a small hills or flat map on extreme difficulty 8). That aside it is still a major feat to build what she did build.

Can I make a request?
Can you make a mod that will get rid of the large mountain on every map, and make it so that it becomes just a combination of "regular" land and smaller mountains. It would be a good challenge to build a base without the large mountain.

Maybe it could be as simple as making all lights in an (x) amount of squares, from a bed in use, shut off.

I think a good, temporary solution would be to have an option to make the map generator not generate those large chunks of mountain every time. This way, there would not be enough mountain to build an entire base in but you might be able to fit a room or two.

This would be very helpful. Especially when you are about to be raided and you need to set up a quick defense, instead of telling your guys individually to do it. Or when you want to take out the raider with the grenades before he gets too close. Or when you want to send a group to go haul supplies that are far from your base.

Although it would be nice to be able to research those things, that would make it impossible for you to lose an colonist. Having one of your colonists die is part of the game and makes it more suspenseful during a fight. Part of the fun of raids are finding new ways to kill them with the least amount of loss on your side. I like to play with not ever building any turrets and only relying on manpower to stop the raiders ant it can lead to some fun games. And if you are able to have the ability to make body armor, the raiders would have to be able to have some too, to keep a balance.

Some things that I have tried and are fun are:
- Play without ever building turrets
- you cant build the indoor farms and can only build outdoor ones
- (similar to yours) Place a limit on how many colonists you can have at one time
- Don't build your base into the rock, but instead build it in the open

Ideas / Hardcore/Iron man Saves

I do not know how it could be fixed (perhaps a new storyteller - Henry Hertless?) but it would cool if you were unable to reload saves. Too often do I find myself reloading a past save when I am about to lose so that I don't have to start over. For instance, in minecraft, if you die you drop all your stuff and the game auto saves so you can't reload the game and have all your stuff again. Although frustrating it makes the game more fun, somehow. If saves were disabled, I would get way more frustrated (in a good way) if one of my favorite colonists died. But instead I will just reload the game and there will be no consequences. You could just play the game and swear you wont reload a save but that takes a lot of willpower and if I am failing in the game and about to lose the colony that I spent two hours building, I would, and I bet many other people would reload their last save.
