General Discussion / Re: Should body types and gender actually have an effect on melee and shit?
December 28, 2016, 07:54:23 AM
Well everyone started talking about stereotypes and other garbage like that...
I will stick to the game itself to give an opinion, and I say... No.
Generalizing the fact that add complexity actually improve the game is NOT always true.
Sometimes add too much complexity will make the game only more tedious and unpleasant, whit unpleasant I mean something like a man who come back home at 9 p.m. after a full day of work and he wants to relax a bit having both fun while stimulating his mind (Strategy game do that to me, ye.)
and I think what rimworld accomplish where other game fails is THIS.
I mean, I can play dwarf fortress, but I don't, because yes there's a lot of strategy but its insane complexity make it less a game and more a task gave to me by my boss! (Im talking about my personal feel OFC!! ).
So what I thank Tynan for is this wonderful balance between complexity and fun.
My last answer to that addition, accordingly to what I said above is: No, I don't think is a nice/necessary addition.

General Discussion / Re: Water

Tynan expressed himself more than once about the balance between realism and fun.
If the game is really accurate it will be fun only for a restricted group of strategy game fanatics.
If the game is only for fun and casual it will be played only by raging kid or casual gamers.
The thing I liked more about Rimworld indeed is its balance between complexity and fun.
I like the idea behind dwarf fortress but really... It's just too much! Way over the top!
Tynan gifted this midway to us which for me is pure GOLD!
After this, if you read that far... Drinking and Toilet would be a nice addition to realism but I think scavenge water along with food will just give headache always monitoring stockpile and resource.
Also, I dont know about you, but a lot of people (myself included) play on harsh environment like sea ice, tundra, desert, extreme desert; in those biome caring about water too will be just so tedious.
On the other hand, I'm okay with fishing, and/or actually doing something with those lake on the map, or if you choose the tileset with the water on one side.

General Discussion / Re: Getting rid of DevMode

Well that went far beyond expected, its more like a philosophy lesson.
Someone mentioned about my post in the mods section, well in fact I think I found a way to make the game crash when you tick devmode on/off.
However my coding experience is not enough to recompile a complex .dll
How would this help me? Someone may ask...
Well after rebuilding the new .dll I permanently delete the original one, by doing so the only solution is download the whole game again which is too tedious (at least for me) and I'll stick to it.
Another tought touched my mind however... I remember about the guys behind CCC (community core library), ForsakenShell in praticular.
If I'm not wrong to implement CCC he had to dig in the source code itself, so he may be willing to help.

Help / Re: How to modify menus button?

Well, that's exactly what I wanted to avoid!
In that class you're talking about is it possible to make a menu button smaller/larger?
This way I can make a button 0x0 pixels so its un-clickable, what do you think?

Help / How to modify menus button?
December 27, 2016, 06:57:58 AM
Hi guys, I would like to know how I can modify a menu button.
ie. I mean make a button (like credits or whatever) disappear from the menu, not only graphically, but in a way that you can't click on it anymore.
I'm really going mad finding a way to do it...

Well but I still make the option disappear only graphically from the menu so I can't click on it!
And as I said a solution of this kind will prevent me from using it, the problem for me is that is just there waiting for me to click on it, but when I do it the game turns so useless and easy that I get bored and close it!

General Discussion / Getting rid of DevMode
December 27, 2016, 06:30:54 AM
Hi guys, I'd like to know how to completely mess up the devmode option cause I can't stop cheat!
Is there a file I can delete so that when I click on devmode it crash the game or just make it unusable?
"Self-control", "just don't cheat", "Another inspiring motivational thing that won't work: put here".
Just don't tell me those kind of things please!!!
Also exit the game to active cheat actually WILL prevent me from cheating cause it bothers me alot to close and reopen te game!
I found an .xml file called prefs that contained a devmode related line and I deleted it hoping it will work, but had no effect in game!
Edit: Even something easy to mod like making the option disappear from the menu! I will do it by myself if you tell me how!
