Recruit everyone. Literrally everyone you have a reasonable expectation to survive the injuries sustained in combat. Then once they are recuited you have to treat them like a colonist you want to keep around. Thats not to say give the useless ones power armor, but dont use them as meat sheilds either
I did something like that before but i didn't recruit anyone, just forced them to work (again prison labour) i had one extremely impressive prison barrack with like 30 prisoners. they did all the stone cutting cooking farming and hauling, food wasn't a problem with the 750 simple meals in stockpile from prisoners cooking and farming. 4 colonists 30 prisoners all but one were on constant wardening.

i know you can get the steam after buying the version from ludeon but i can't find something the other way around.

I have been recently playing with the beast men tribes mod, and a challenge I put on myself is I can only have lynx men tribe people anyone else is enslaved (prison labour). So far its going well, but I was wondering what other challenges people had come up with for themselves.

General Discussion / Re: Double Down=Doomed?

it could just be because they reach the pain threshold a second time in X minutes because if something is down they get up again at 79% pain so anything will add 1% and cap them out again. there is also a chance when a creature reaches max pain (80-100) the game makes them have X chance of instantly being killed. After downing once the death chance may be more weighted towards death and less towards downing instead.

I think it is because when they are downed most of the high chance to hit body parts are on low health and it might only take one more hit to destroy them.

for example if a torso is 7 out of 40 and its hit after getting up, which is very common they will die.

If you have the steam version you can backdate it to play old saves.
and one thing i am hoping for in 18 is covered wagons that can boost caravan speed and carrying capacity.

He should just hide under the covers then, that should keep him safe from the bugs.

I think I speak for everyone when I say, that is everyone's nightmare. lying in bed after bingeing on rimworld and suddenly the laundry hamper in the corner looks suspiciously like a hive...

cue a week of sleeping with the lights on.

(if it is not your nightmare please tell me your secret)

Could we have it that when you double click on a colonist (bar or otherwise) the camera instead of just snapping to them will follow them as they move? And to cancel it you just move the camera manually and it will stop following them around. Pretty cheap, maybe 20 minutes top to make part of the game.

Truthfully, I got a pirated version of A8 just before A9 came out. Then didn't play again till A15.... that too was pirated and I bought the game, a month or two after it hit steam. I love the game. I'm sorry I didn't buy it sooner....
Same for me, i saw The Yogscsat play it and found an older pirated copy of alpha 12. i did it because i was poor at the time and wanted to try it, bought it on steam a month later. i still haven't completed the game yet.

Even if we can't rename all pets, at least renaming the named ones would be nice.
that would be nice, but I wouldn't use it very often. some of the names can be very endearing. I once had a rhino attack my tribe and we incapitated it. when healing it my doctor formed a bond with is and named him Mudpot. I actually cried when he died of his infection 2 minutes later. but sometimes it is annoying when you have a panther that has more kills then everyone combined, called Doug. (I refer to his true name killer killer the murder of death)
