Yellow? Why yellow? It's always been red, green, and blue. What weirdness is this?

Green is only a primary color in additive colors (like your computer's monitor and television) while it's Yellow in pigment colors like paint.

you cant make yellow, green is yellow + blue.

you can make yellow, green is yellow + blue.

Then answer yellow isn't wrong, in the same way that green isn't too.
Ask an artist and he will answer yellow, ask a physicist and he will answer green.
In my opinion, both should be the correct answer.

Lol, you're right. I'll remove that question.

Sorry you have to answer it. We've had a lot of spam problems.

Heh, technically it's not wrong. Most people are used to mixing colors, which filters the light as it passes through multiple layers of color resulting in the color combinations that most people are familiar with. When the light itself is added in different combinations, like in a computer monitor, the primary colors change to red, green, blue.

What's this Red and Blue with Yellow? It's always RGB and CMYK, right? If there's Red, the the others are Green and Blue. If there's Yellow, then the others are Cyan and Magenta (and Black).

That's what I thought too. Yellow should be paired with cyan and magenta, not red and blue. o.O

I think it's referring to the combinations you might expect to be taught in art class using paints, not a digital medium.
I'm an Electrical and Electronic Engineering student in university in New Zealand.

I like games, but unfortunately they don't help me get a degree.. so I'm going to be inactive for awhile.

i've always referred to it as.
Primary  RYB. as in physical form you can't mix colors to get them.
Additive RGB. because screens don't need black additive flips it so White is the outcome of all colors.
subtractive CYMK. best for printing from a monitor to paper where black is needed again and white is not but more accurately prints from the RGB screen.

ive had classes on it long ago but it was short class that i dont remember most of lol. so i could be wrong, but thats how i see them. so truly i  think Primary is still RYB. but what do i know im just a 3D modeler for games lol.

i guess they could all be considered primarys in their own field. but the answer for these questions should be 100% not  50/50 or 33/33/33

1. Go fetch some crayons and a piece of paper.
2. Color an area with a yellow crayon
3. Color the same area with a blue crayon
4. The area is now green-ish.

But there's more than one approach to generating colors.

StorymasterQ

Yes, but now you've ruined your blue crayon.

Also, don't color an area black and then try to color it with another crayon because as they say, once you go black... I don't think that saying is talking about crayons, but the analogy fits!

Heh, heh, I said 'analogy'.
