Moderators

Hello, I was hoping a someone could explain to me what a Moderator's role is on this forum. I know some of the basics are to help other forum members, but am unclear as to what else they do. Another thing i'm wondering is how many moderators there are on this forum.

I'm also mildly curious and slightly interested in becoming one if this forum ever needs one more.

Our mods just try to minimally enforce the rules in the rules list, offer gentle reminders to be civil where needed, and sometimes move posts as needed.

How many mods? I'm not even sure. Some likely aren't active any more. But you can see them logged in from the root forum page. Their names are colored in the logged-in person list.

When mods are needed I'll generally just ask around for who has a super cool head, consistent behavior, helpful attitude, never escalates or argues or becomes even a little uncivil, and is around often enough to make a difference.
