Even though their eating is "none" and they cannot eat food on their own, it is still possible to feed them.

Humans: if they are in bed because they're injured, another colonist who is doctoring can feed them like normal.

Animals: animal trainers can still feed them as part of training.

Can they really not eat on their own? I thought they could still eat, just very slowly (and possibly only nutrient paste, not sure about that though). Otherwise it'd just be guaranteed death, since stomachs aren't harvestable organs or items.
Some sort of psychic wave has swept over the landscape. Your colonists are okay, but...
It seems many of the scythers in the area have been driven insane.

I just tested and you are correct, they can still eat it just takes around 4 hours, which I guess makes sense since you could spend a lot of time chewing your food into a paste and still absorb some of it in your intestines without your stomach helping digestion. Still a bug though that when being fed by other colonists, or from being "trained" that their eating progresses at normal speed.

It is by design, otherwise they'd just die. The design is weird, but it's still by design so it's not a bug.
