Colonists should patch themselves up

Lets say... You only have one colonist, the others are dead...

That colonist is is injured and bleeding moderately.

You have meds available

Colonist should go fetch the meds, go back to the hospital bed, sit down and heal themselves

Makes sense to me, a colonist should be able to heal themselves if no doctor is available and their injuries are all relatively minor. Maybe the process could take longer as a way to balance it.

Obviously they wouldn't be able to perform major operations like replacing damaged organs or installing a bionic limb without assistance, but bandaging one's own cuts and bruises should be well within the ability of anyone not incapable of medical care.
Before you talk to me, I should warn you: I am kind of strange.

+1 to performing medical treatment on yourself (at a penalty)

No on operations ofc.  "Ok, so i give myself the anasthetic.  Now I....just....ZZZzzzz..."

This would need balancing. First of all, they could only treat gunshots, bruises, cuts, burns etc. (All relatively minor), and it would need to take a long time. They would, in my opinion, also need to use some sort of medicine, as otherwise it would be too OP.
Only in RimWorld is the phrase "31 Heavily-Armed Siegers are currently bombing your base" preferable to "50 manhunting squirrels are attacking your colony"

It would be good. Maybe "medic" can be put in. While we are forcing them to move and fight, he/she can go fetch on field.

Yeah, it definitely would need balancing. The most appealing suggestion I've seen is requiring special bandages or something to be held in the colonist's inventory, so while it gives colonists more flexibility for minor scratches and frostbite it requires a little planning ahead and medicine.

Id love to be able to do this. Ages back i had a one man colony who died. He had power armour, R4 charge rifle and a base full of gear. Cause of death. Bleedout from squirrel bite. (Facepalm)
Whats Rimworld without a little cannabilism/ murder/ maniacs/ crazy tribes/ nasty pirates/ nutcase animals/ genocidal robots etc.

Also, not severe bleeding wounds, will usually staunch by themselves, IRL. A squirrel bite (aside from infections) would heal in a couple of days, the bleeding would stop in minutes, if a major vessel was not torn.
