When rimworld is released on steam will the community become much bigger here?

So im excited for the release of rimworld on steam like everyone else but the one thing that concerns me is what will happen to the population on this forum.
what i see could be negative parts of a much larger community:

Since steam has forums for every game (at least that i know of) in the community tab i wasnt sure if people here where going to migrate over to steam or steam users coming over here (i personally dont like the forums on steam, the lay out is awkward to me and a lot of redundant topics that are the same as the last are made. plus the way this one is set up is the way i like it).

aside from population i also fear that more people will mean that unfriendly and mean people will start to appear in the community and cause problems, as well as players that will spam for mod requests of the same mod instead of either looking for it or being patience more so that it already is (example would be people looking for the zombie mod.) it would kinda suck if there where a few people (small children to be more specific) spammed the mod forums for minecraft mods or other things that would become annoying to see(nothing wrong with minecraft, i just dont feel like seeing a mod where a creeper chases my colonist bob whos hauling steel and blowing him up). finally i just think that if too many people post on a forum around the same time too quickly it could become a mess... And trolls... Trolls would suck

Positive parts (much shorter since they dont need to be explained much)

More modders and therefor more mods

more people know about the game and it will be able to get out there further in the world

we get a fresh batch of new players that we can teach in the ways of surviving in rimworld... or at least get a laugh as a mechanoid lands in their base throwing the player into complete panic.

what do you guys think about what will happen to the community?
In the end, we all make the same leather hats.

Yeah the Steam forum UI is shit. the new players will probably stay over there until they realize there's this forum. There may be trolls and stuff but that's what the moderators are for which makes me wonder if Tynan is going to recruit more moderators to handle everything. Also I bet the newbies will ask about z-level in the first week.

Really this is all speculation. There will almost definitely be more people but that won't necessarily be a bad thing. Sure there may be some trolls and some unpleasantness but they will pass. I think you will find it will be the true fans that stick around and contribute.
(There are many big fans that aren't active on the forums but that is beside the point)

Although until Rimworld is released there is no way of knowing what will happen. All you can do is wait and see.
The only difference between screwing around and science is writing it down.

To answer the topic, Definitely, Steam means new players, a new community and other things. We'll have significant growth, I'd imagine, in both the Reddit and here, aswell as in the new steam forums.

Simply because Murphy's law is a thing, a few of these will come to pass. There will be trolls and all-round bad people, but that's going to happen regardless, The steam community is inundated with them, yes, but we've had our fair share of them on here aswell, just the moderators are real good at their jobs. ;)

When the 15th rolls round, try not to feed the blatant trolls and just try and treat the newbies like you would any other forum-goer. The problems will come to pass eventually. :)

Hey... Besides work/collage/marrige I don't do anything else. I could be a moderator.

I'm always lurking it and making useless posts

Total speculation at this point as every gaming community is slightly different.

Some RimWorlders will use both this board and the Steam Boards that are already set up.

From other games that I've seen and played:
The completists (like me) will use both boards. Though our usage of the Ludeon boards may lessen a bit with the new outlet.
The Steam Newbies will just use the Steam boards and never read or post here.
The Ludeon devotees (the Old Guard)  will staunchly ignore the Steam Forums and stay firmly entrenched here

That's some pretty good speculation.  I think you're spot-on.  I'm an Old Guard for sure, and Steam really isn't my thing.

And I'm certain that if the current mods can't keep up with a potentially increased workload, Tynan will recruit more.  There may be a period of flux, but it'll even out in the end.  Things have a way of doing that.  :)

besides using this forum and having played the game for a bit is there anything else i need to be an Old Guard or would i already be part of it

Well if the Napoleonic Era French were to be believed a Large Bearskin Hat (Like the British Castle Guards wear) is also necessary. It was their defeat of Napoleon's Old Guard at Waterloo that gave them the right to wear the fancy hats.
