Build Priority?

It would be cool to be able to set the build priority for colonists we have focusing on construction.  It sucks to have them working on a stone wall when you really need that turret up.  Selecting the colonist and then right clicking on the building or object you want them to work on often does not work.

Monkfish

Often doesn't work? You'll have to elaborate on that one, unless you mean those situations where you tell a colonist to construct something and they haul the material to it and then wander off.

That said, it would be nice to have a global "prioritise this job" on outstanding jobs that would mean the next and/or closest builder to that job starts it next rather than something else. Also, along the same lines, prioritising a wall construction should prioritise the entire connected wall rather than the one segment you click on.

By "often doesn't work" I mean that I select a colonist that should be able to do the construction, then I right click on a blueprint and I get nothing.   Not even a message that says "someone else is already building this" or "colonist is not a builder".

Monkfish

Ahh, ok. I've experienced that when I don't have enough materials or whatever to perform the task. For example, if you have no graves and right-click on a corpse, even one that is allowed, nothing happens.

They'll build whatever they feel like working on, usually the closest blueprint first. The simple solution is to cancel everything that doesn't need to be done immediately so that your builders work on what you need first.

I do love me some prioritized tasks.

Having said that, I also feel that RW isn't meant to be played in that scale of management. It's less of 'do this here now and do that there later', and really only 'do this and that' and it's the colonists' decision on which to do first and perhaps later even where to do it.

If anything is amiss, then it's your own fault somehow. Maybe you prioritized the colonists wrong. Maybe you failed to account for the materials. Maybe you forgot to undraft someone (although this one's been nerfed) and he dies of hunger and him being the only one who could fight is the undoing of your colony.

It's a colony management game and not colony builder game.
I like how this game can result in quotes that would be quite unnerving when said in public, out of context. - Myself

The dubious quotes list is now public. See it here

yea, this has been my stopgap remedy for wayward builders. the problem with this though is that the players would have to plant the blueprints all over again. so it would really be nice to have a "pause/unpause" button right beside the "cancel" button when you click on a placed blueprint.

though it would be better if players can copy+paste a blueprint (ie : drag a rectangle across an area, and any blueprint within that area will be saved as a blueprint template. which should be great for bedrooms, kitchens, defensive designs, or any generic room designs, etc.) and then be able to pause/unpause the creation of that entire blueprint template rather than pause each blueprint item individually.
