Ok, I've been watching Skye's videos  "Lets Play Rimworld" and at first I didn't like it but after a few episodes it was really cool.  Well I finally got the game and over Labor Day I really wanted to learn the game.   

Now the problem is that I get about 4 hours into the game and all of a sudden everyone goes berserk and starts killing everyone and everything and the game is over....WTF?    I have the happiness going there...single rooms, plants, crops of foods....what am I doing wrong here.

Check the needs tab of each character and see what negative mood modifiers your people have.
At the beginning you often don't have enough positive buffs to offset a lot of them (either because there are many or you have severe ones). Resorting to drugging with beer and smoke leaf are easy options to avert a major break.
Fine meals are also a good choice for a small boost if you have enough meat and vegetables. Lavish meals are too much work though.

Some of those negatives come from your base, but some also come from the character's traits. There are also traits that make characters break earlier (e.g. nervous or too smart)

You should click on your colonists and look at their character traits and needs. For example, "Night Owl" characters will receive buffs or debuffs to mood depending on the time of day. You should schedule their day (via the "Restrict" tab) so they sleep around 10:00-18:00 and do whatever the rest of the day.

You should also keep your home area clean by assigning some pawns a high cleaning priority. Make a rec room with a billiards table / chess boards / nice quality table and chairs for them to eat and play around in their spare time.

Ok guys thanks for your help....just learning the game in there seems to be a lot of micro-managing here and I'm not to good on that....I'll give it another try....its all I have to do today till the Seahawks whip up on the doll-fins today..hehehehe

WOahWOahWOah, don't you go doubting the dolphins. I think they actually made it to the playoffs last year.
