You need to make a bill! Basically, the table by itself doesn't do anything. You have to put in an order (bill) for x number of a thing to be made, be it cook food, butcher meat, cut stone blocks, etc. Mods add to the crafting projects you can do, like sawing wood, canning food, packing up weapons, and more. Also, when you set your bill, be sure to take notice of the radius, which will tell your pawns how far to go searching for the things they need to use to craft items.

So the crafting skill is what makes people use the stonebcutter bench and the butchery table? Cooking for the cooker id guess too?
