Ubuntu 16.04, middle mouse button doesn't work.

Hi,

I recently switched from Win7 to Ubuntu 16.04 and tried Rimworld with Steam. It runs ok, but the middle mouse button doesn't work (so I can't scroll the map with it and I really miss that functionality). In Ubuntu the button works ok.

Tynan wrote somewhere it may be a problem with unity, but I'd like to know: is this a problem for all linux users, or is it just something that happens on a few systems?

If it works for other users I could at least try to fix it on my system.

Thanks!

I asked people somewhere else, if they can use the middle mouse button in Rimworld on Linux and it seems to be a problem of ubuntu... for users with Arch Linux the mouse did work normally.

On Gentoo (with KDE) is the same, but right-button works like middle-button for me.

This sounds more like a Bug than a Support issue.  Moving to Bugs for the devs to look at.

I have reported it yesterday as an alpha15 bug, Tynan is aware of it. Strangely, right mouse button works.

For your information, I'm also getting it on Debian Linux 8.0 (Jessie).

Perhaps this info is useful: although scrolling with the middle mousebutton doesn't work, I can navigate the in-game menus with middle mouse clicks. So, somehow the mmb clicks get registered over menus, but not on the map.

Is there any info available whether this is fixed in Alpha 16?

(This is really an annoying bug.)

Hm, the bug in mantis is closed, but the problem still exists in Alpha 16.

The right mouse button does not really work the same way for me: in the windows version I can grab and drag the terrain with the middle mouse button very precisely. With the right mouse button on linux I can only scroll a small amount - it's like a small "push" to the map. It's not really usable to navigate the map.

Should I create another open bug for this in Mantis?

Tynan

It's not an addressable bug in our code. RimWorld code doesn't interact with OS or hardware at all (Unity does that for us). It might be an issue with Unity or the OS or the drivers.

We can hope that the next Unity update fixes this. I'm gonna close this now since it's basically inaccessible to me. Sorry.
