What's on TV in Rimworld?

What do our pawns watch on TV? I like to imagine that what they're getting is basically the weirder end of public access television. A bunch of quackpots and survivalists hosting shoestring budget "shows." Maybe something like this:

"Hey everybody welcome to Let's Sculpt... today I'm gonna sculpt a granite sculpture of a horde of accountants vomiting on the ground, done in a cubist style, while riding a muffalo and smoking smokeleaf joints. Up next, Engie is gonna read to us from her newest book, 'All Other Factions Are Part Of a Galactic Conspiracy to Fight the Voices in my Head,' from 3AM to 6AM."

I think a RimWorld show about sculpting would probably start more like this:

"Hey everybody welcome to Let's Scalpel... sorry sorry, I meant sculpture, sculpture. I definitely meant sculpture. Any rumours you've heard are totally untrue, as I'm a sculptor AND NOTHING MORE.

Okay, so today I'm gonna scalpel a prisoner to remove... DAMN DAMN DAMN I've just done it again..."

"Over here we're going to add a happy little muffalo.  He'll be looking on at the inferno going on in the main part of the sculpture.  And if you want you can put in a boomrat in the corner.  Or not.  Its your sculpture."

Headshotkill

Ancient TV shows and films broadcasted from the glitterworld planets near the center of the galaxy that have travelled centuries if not millenia through space to eventually come by the rimworlds and be received by the antenna on the television.

I'm always surprised they can even get a tv signal that far out in the universe! lol

I always wondered if the purchase of a Megascreen TV included some sort of media that can be watched on it, like a stack of DVDs or something. "Hey guys, let's all watch 'Caddyshack' again!"

I think there's room for customization/mods/DLC here. Maybe once you have a TV, you can play back MP3 file, radio stations, or youtube channels (picture-in-picture)?

Maybe even have some kind of algorithm where the mp3 metadata is checked for genre, and some pawns will get a mood boost/debuff from certain types of music.

That's gotta be an instant hit! It could also give you more points in Art. :)

If you give an annoying colonist a parka before banishing him to the ice sheet you'll only get a -3 penalty instead of -5.

And don't forget that the pirates chasing a refugee are often better recruits than the refugee is.

QuoteInterdimensional cable.

We need a mod where we can research and craft the inter-dimensional cable box. That would clear up a lot of misunderstandings.

The description from when TV's first came out was that somewhere on the rimworld, someone has an antenna broadcasting a tv signal, so it would depend on the owner of the antenna. It would be cool if in the future you could capture or build your own antenna and broadcast for yourself.

As soon as you start broadcasting you get a "Wanderer Joins" event every 8 hours until your colony collapses :)

I'm pretty sure there's at least one channel broadcasting porn all day long. I mean ... porn is everywhere, and it's a huge motor for technological advance (yeah, really ... VHS and DVD would surely not have been evolved thus fast if there would have been no porn)
